Introduction to Blessing Your Spirit

Video Transcript:
Hi, my name is Beth Shewchuk and I’m a licensed professional counselor, and I want to share with you what I really enjoy doing, and that is blessing peoples’ spirits. And, first I wanted to define spirit because different people define it differently between soul and spirit. I’m defining soul as that part that is directly connected to the body, it has the emotions, the will, the mind, and so on. And, your spirit also has thoughts and feelings and decisions, will. But, it goes on eternally. It can be there without connecting necessarily to the body.

For example, when you have an operation and you go under general anesthesia, your body and your soul can be completely out and unconscious. And, your spirit, you might experience as being up on the ceiling looking down on things or being somewhere else or different things like that. The spirit doesn’t connect in the same way as the soul.
Knowing that, that you have a soul and a spirit, I would like to bless and invite the portion of your humanity that is the spirit to listen in. Friends, you know that if you believed in the Messiah and Jesus has forgiven your sins, you’ve accepted Him into your life, and you want to follow His plans, then you are saved and the Holy Spirit is residing in you.
I invite your spirit to connect to the Holy Spirit and have His breath blow through you and to speak truth to your spirit. And, I ask your soul to kindly step aside so I can bless your spirit.

Spirit, you know that God created Adam and he formed him out of the dust and then he breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and made him a living being. So, in the same way, spirit, you are formed from God’s breath. He breathed into you so you would become a living being at conception. God is light. In Him there is no darkness at all, First John 1.5 says, “And God breathed into you and gave you His light and life from His essence.” Psalm 21 says, “The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?” Philippians 2:15 says, “Live as children of God above reproach in the midst of a perverse and crooked generation in which you shine like lights in the world as you hold onto the word of life.”

That’s what you’re like spirit, is light, life from God. You’ve been formed from the essence of Creator God when He breathed into you and gave you life. I encourage to let you let Him wash over you, cleanse you, align you, restore you, fill you today. Let the Holy Spirit to continue to breathe into you to be connecting and revitalizing you.

In the New Testament, the word ‘pneuma’, spirit, is used for your human spirit, for the Holy Spirit, for breath. Those words are used all from the same Greek word ‘pneuma.’ It’s not like you can separate the Holy Spirit from your spirit or your breath when He came in and breathed into you, you became mingled and mixed with Him. So, let Him, right now wash over you, breathe into you. Jesus said to his disciples, “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you,” and Jesus breathed on the disciples and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”

He came in with fullness then. So, just feel that right now. Jesus breathing His spirit onto you as you receive that.

If you’ve been timid or hesitant about connecting with the Holy Spirit, I encourage you to receive that breath of life now. Let Him activate your spirit so you can enjoy the peace and the goodness and the kindness that He brings with His fruit. Isaiah 61 says, “Arise, shine, for your light has come and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.”

So, I bless your spirit today to arise, to shine, to stay connected to the Holy Spirit, and receive all that He wants to give you today. In closing, the Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make his face to shine upon you, the Lord be gracious unto you and lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.
I hope to talk to you again soon. Goodbye.
